 The latest results from the [Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration](/about) were published on Feb 8th 2023.

###  **Astronomers Reveal First Image of the Black Hole at the Heart of Our Galaxy**

 On May 12th 2022, the EHT Collaboration presented the first image of the supermassive black hole at the centre of our own Milky Way galaxy. This result provides overwhelming evidence that the object is indeed a black hole and yields valuable clues about the workings of such giants, which are thought to reside at the centre of most galaxies. The image was produced by a global research team called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration, using observations from a worldwide network of radio telescopes.

###  **First Polarized Image Around a Black Hole**

 On March 24th 2021, the EHT Collaboration produced the first polarized image around the black hole of M87. An azimuthal electric vector polarization pattern was found around the ring, consistent with dynamically strong magnetic fields in the accretion flow supplied to the jetted accreting supermassive black hole M87\*.
